If you want to have a good bra foundation in your wardrobe those are the bras you should have:
2 (or 3) comfortable bras to sleep and stay at home. A bralette with no underwire and enough support that doesn’t compress too much is a good option. Neutral colors are always welcome, especially the nude ones. And black.
2 (or 3) everyday bra, like a t-shirt bra. Nude and black colors are a great option. You can also wear your bralette here. And have just one t-shirt bra and 1 more bralette or 2.
At least 1 racerback bra. That could be your daily bra or a stay at home or sleeping bra.
2 (or 3) sexy bras. And there are a lot options here. It can be a lacey one, a satin one, a see-through one, it can be a demi cup, full cup, a cami… It will all depend on you and your style. Here you can even bet in color like red, purple, blue, green, yellow, pink… Or even black and gray. Or white.
Around 2 convertible bras or one with all the options. But here consider one with different options for your back, a strapless and also one with a plunge deep V-neck. Nude or black.
It is a good idea to have 1 stick or silicone lift bra, just in case you need a bra to wear with a bare back. Or prefer that option for a strapless outfit.
Those are pretty much the type of bras you will need to have a good bra wardrobe. Of course that if you are the type of person who never wears a strapless outfit or would never consider a deep v-neck dress an option, you don’t need to have a bra like that. Just get the ones that you might need to wear with the clothes you already have in your wardrobe. And you will know better than me which ones you will need in your wardrobe.
It is always a good idea to have at least 1 nude bra in every category to be able to wear with clothes that demand an invisible-ish bra.
And one more thing regarding bras: it is very important to get your size right. And sometimes it will vary from different models. Even in the same store. Also, you can loose and gain weight and that can change your size as well. So, pay attention to it. Because it is very important to get it right and have the perfect support.
Yes, you can wear your single cuff opened as an alternative to vary. If, it is that kind of detail that is very much you. If not, just keep on wearing it closed.
But if it is for you, then be aware that you can wear it opened with a blazer, a coat, a jacket or a cardigan framing it for you. Or you can wear a shirt with an opened cuff with nothing over it. That is another possibility.
This will give a stylish fashion forward touch to your look. And yes, it is a bit more casual, but still a possibility to wear with a suit even. It will all depends on you, your style and whether or not the occasion would welcome that little detail. Detail that can make a difference.
What you need to have is a wardrobe with key pieces that could be mix and match to multiply your options for every occasion you will have ahead from day to night, from week to weekends, from work to happy hour, from work out to vacation. And to accomplish that you will have to have a foundation wardrobe with essential pieces. Which pieces? Well, that will vary greatly for everyone because your lifestyle, your daily routine, your taste and personal style, all combined will dictate that.
What I can do is to give you an idea of which pieces they could be. But this will come in other posts later on, for ladies and dudes. So, stay tuned.
Ok, an all black look is indeed a good way to look slimmer. But only if it fits properly. A head-to-toe oversized outfit for instance is not gonna do the magic. So, if you do want to look slimmer, take care of the outfit’s fit. It matters. It should not be too comfy neither too tight. Just perfect.
With that fit thing in mind, consider other color combos to have the same result as an all-black look. Like an all-navy or all-dark green or all gray look just like in the photos above. In fact, any dark shade of color is a good bet and alternative to black.
Other possibility is betting in two very close shades of a dark color like dark gray and navy or black and navy/gray or even dark gray and dark green or dark burgundy red with dark brown and so on and on…
Now you know that the next time you want to look a little slimmer you can rely on other dark shades of color and not only black to do the trick. You can even wear two different colors in a similar dark shade to do it.
And the perfect shirt cuff length is at the very beginning of your hand, without advancing on it, without biting a little bit of your hand or without showing a little inch of your wrist’s skin. Pretty much how the photo illustrates below.
And this length is essential for a shirt with a single cuff, double cuff or any cuff, wearing a shirt solo or with a blazer, a jacket or a coat.
This way your shirt cuff detail will always be spot on.
Regardless of what you are wearing and how you are wearing, nothing will matter most than your ability to own your look. And by own your look I mean, feel comfortable in it, not only in terms of fitting but feeling great, at ease wearing it. As if you were the queen or the king of that particular look. Because if you don’t, it will show and that on its own could compromise the whole look. Even if you are wearing the right shades of color. Even if the look is perfect for your body type and suits your style. If you don’t feel amazing and at ease, this little detail can ruin it all for you.
So always own your look.
“The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it.”
If you find an especially flattering fit from a particular piece that you absolutely love it and feels it is so much you, go ahead and buy doubles. Triples. As many as you like. In different colors or prints, obvioulsy. Cause when it works, works and that is all you need to look fab.
I personally love a wrap dress. I have some in my wardrobe. All in different prints but still a wrap dress. I can dress up or down as the occasion requires and to suit my mood as well. Love them. And I feel as if they are trademark dresses. Actually, I think dresses in general are my trademark. Love them. Most of the time I am on a dress. That is me.
And how about you, do you have a certain clothes’ style that figures often in your wardrobe?
If you are betting on a plunging neckline, let this be the only major skin revealing of your outfit. Or if you are going for a sexy slit showing some legs in a skirt or dress do the same. Don’t combine them both in the same outfit. Because if you do, besides looking too much skin revealing they will cancel out the effect of each other.
In another words, to maximize the wow factor of a plunging neckline or a skirt slit, let them be the star of your look alone. And by doing so, you will keep the look elegant as well.
